El Carlino – wine label design

It’s in such vineyards that El Carlino Organic Wine comes to life. An elegant wine with the aroma of ripe red fruits, featuring delicate herbal and spicy notes. Perfect for roasted lamb, Spanish cured hams, chorizo, and Manchego cheese. Our joy with El Carlino not only involved designing wine labels but also naming and branding. After presenting various options, the client chose the name El Carlino, which translates to “pug.”

Based on this whimsical idea, we created a wine brand aimed at a modern audience, eager to experiment, appreciating unconventional and bold brands. Our goal was to create eye-catching labels that are interesting but not loud.

Thus, the idea was born of a caring lumberjack with a melancholic gaze holding a perpetually cheerful pug. Both the illustration style and the chosen expressions position the product as carefully crafted bio-organic wine, perfectly in line with the client’s guidelines.

Wine branding is not just about the name, logo, or label design. It also involves the concept of communication, brand identity, and promotion. El Carlino is bold, interesting, and prepared with passion. This had to be reflected in its communication. Referencing both the natural bio-origin and the bold character, we decided not to create a single universal message but to divide it into two streams.

Ultimately, a very interesting and unconventional, slightly hipster wine brand emerged, conquering the market and gaining consumer recognition. In the case of wines, branding is particularly crucial. The label determines which wine customers choose, and which goes unnoticed. The label attracts the consumer, while the taste and quality of the wine make them come back and recommend it to others.
