Designing labels for non alcoholic beverages

On one hand, the market for ready-to-drink beverages is quite saturated. On the other hand, ready-made cocktail mixes are a relatively new and not very popular product. Therefore, when thinking about visual codes for City Sailor, we were looking for something new yet somewhat familiar. We weren’t interested in a purely alcoholic direction, and we didn’t want to go in the soft drink direction either. We decided to touch upon the aesthetics occasionally seen in ready-to-drink labels but with a bit of a twist.

The overall design is characterized by vibrant colors, bold typography, and appetizing illustrations.

Labels for City Sailor beverages

All four flavor variants have carefully chosen names, primary and complementary color schemes, and guiding illustrations that give customers an idea of what the final drinks might taste like. Designing labels for alcohol or mixes like City Sailor requires a thoughtful approach to the subject.

The versatility of City Sailor lies in the carefully crafted blend of alcohols. By simply adding sparkling water, juice, or tonic, we can create delicious cocktails! Adding bartender syrups, on the other hand, allows us to craft unconventional shots!

It is precisely this versatility that speaks to the strength of the idea behind City Sailor. Customers who have been purchasing ready-made drinks for their parties were previously limited to just one final outcome. With City Sailor, they become more flexible, and the party can have more than one facet!

And it’s precisely this unconventional character that we wanted to convey through our labels. They are a fusion of the aesthetics of alcoholic products, beverages, juices, and classic bartender syrups. We aimed for labels that are simple, clear, and intriguing. In combination with the appropriately chosen bottle, they form a whole that is simply pleasing to the eye.

Alcohol labels

The name and logo of City Sailor were a separate matter. During creation process, we decided to play with meanings. A good party has a bit of a swing to it, right? And where does it swing best? On a ship. And who can you meet on a ship? A sailor! So, become an urban sailor and dance your way into the ocean of parties.

Once we settled on the name, we moved on to the graphic design of the product logo and the development of a slogan. We chose ‘Premium Spirits’ and an additional explanatory text: ‘The Cocktail Mix.’ This became the foundation for the product’s communication.

After creating a complete set of labels, it was time for promotional materials. In addition to two series of posters featuring bottles in interesting arrangements, there was also a motif of a woman with a shadow on her face—a mysterious figure living her own life by her own rules. Why not! After all, designing labels for alcohol or bartender mixes is a task that requires freedom and creativity.
