Board game design – Alexander
Amber Room
Amber Room is another game entirely of our own creation. We designed a double-sided, modular board, thanks to which each gameplay is entirely different. This game can be played by 2 to 6 players. The gameplay is designed so that even six-year-olds can enjoy it. On the other hand, it provides a lot of fun for older players as well because it requires thinking and planning. You can read a more detailed description of this game here.
Pirates – one hundred brothers
Pirates – One Hundred Brothers is a social card game for which we created both the mechanics, setting, and visual design, including illustrations. In other words, it’s a comprehensive project. The game is based on perceptiveness and can deliver a lot of excitement. It is built on a mechanic similar to what you know from the game Dobble. This time, players are dealt a series of cards. The cards feature illustrations of pirates, the titular “One Hundred Brothers,” who differ from each other by one or several traits. These traits could be facial hair, headgear, shirt color, or the presence or absence of an eye patch. The players’ task (in the basic version of the game) is to lay down additional cards that differ by only one trait from the card already played. You can check out a quick TikTok recommendation here. The game has a total of 3 variants of gameplay, each of which significantly transforms the face of the game and makes the fun even greater.
Monsters and Creatures
Monsters and Creatures is another card game based on a mechanics that requires attentiveness. Our work included devising the mechanics, naming, graphic design of the packaging, illustrations for the game cards, the complete content of the instructions, and preparing the whole for printing. Pawnshop – the board game
Lombard. Life under the Pawn board game is one of the many licensed games we’ve designed. It’s based on the license of popular mockumentary about pawn shop emplyees. We developed a game both thematically and mechanically linked to their hit series Lombard. The docudrama series, aired since September 2017, has captured the hearts of viewers. So, when we were entrusted with creating a game in this world, it posed quite a challenge.
We devised mechanics based on buying and selling items, introducing variations in the form of hidden flaws (or advantages of items), referred to in the language of the series as “assets” or “flaws.”
The game features characters known from the series, and the fun revolves around competing to become the best Lombard seller. We spiced up the entire experience with a plethora of funny items that can become the subject of transactions. This is another nod to the series, as players can trade items such as the Singing Fish, Golden Umbrella, or Electric Fork. The game has won the hearts of players, and you can read many reviews here, here, here or here.
Odd Tales
Odd tales is a game whose mechanics are inspired by creating stories based on pictograms visible on the dice. This type of gameplay stimulates players’ imagination, expands their language skills, and forces them to find creative solutions. To diversify the gameplay, we incorporated special cards into the game, containing titles of well-known movies and books. Based on the pictograms visible on the rolled dice, players must tell the story of these works in such a way as to weave the objects visible on the dice into their narrative.
The packaging graphics were designed to resemble a magical book, with a dragon’s paw emerging from it. And with that paw come incredible adventures and fun. You can also check out positive reviews, for example, here lub here.
Black sheep
Black Sheep is a card game for which we developed everything – starting from the mechanics, through the idea for the theme, original illustrations, cards, instruction content, print files, to the visualization of the final box, and promotional materials. At the early stages of working on the game, we considered various themes: robots, cooking, explorers, monsters. However, sheep seemed to be the most fitting motif. The game was very well-received in the market, and you can find a gameplay description on YouTube.
E-Motionz
E-motionz is a family game where the clients brought their developed mechanics, and we had to tailor the graphics, illustrations, cards, prints, die-cuts, and instruction content to it. The game involves rolling dice to quickly achieve a combination shown on the card. It depends on the player how quickly they can get the desired result, how much risk they are willing to take, and how observant they are. Excitement guaranteed. The reviews are enthusiastic, as you can see by reading one of them.
Slavs
Slavs is a board game for which we managed the entire package, from mechanics to the graphics of the board game, its visualization, and both print and online advertisements. Our objective was to create an interesting and somewhat challenging, yet not overly complicated game set in the world of ancient Slavs. Players assume the role of builders with the goal of constructing as many buildings as possible, ranging from simple huts to forges and temples. We ensured a balanced mechanism that allows everyone to enjoy the game. You can read the full review at this link. Here’s an excerpt:
‘Slavs is an engaging and colorful game that encourages strategic thinking, planning the best path to victory. The rules have been designed to optimize the chances for gameplay full of focus, thoughtful actions, and many positive emotions.
Hot Potato
This is one of the most well-known and best-selling Polish board games. In a class of its own. We dedicated a separate post in our portfolio to this game. There are numerous versions of Hot Potato, as its formula allows for almost limitless expansion of the franchise. We have created versions for the English, American, German, Lithuanian, Czech, Georgian, South African, Swedish, Hungarian, Latvian, and Danish markets. Family, party, pocket, travel, children’s editions, and editions for specific retail networks.
Almost a million copies sold is a result that most titles can only dream of. What’s even more satisfying is that this is our original board game project. It was created from start to finish in our minds.
Pantomime
Pantomime is a fantastic variation on the theme of charades. What sets it apart from ordinary charades are various gameplay modifiers, allowing the Presenter to sometimes emit sounds or have the entire team act out the phrase simultaneously, with one player tasked to guess. Alternatively, one player uses another as a puppet to convey the phrase. The game features minimalist graphics and hundreds of intriguing phrases to act out. The entire set is packaged in a high-quality box, including wooden markers and a total of 150 cards. You can read one of many reviews under this link.
Ghost chase
Ghost chase is a board game variation inspired by popular ‘match-3′ mobile games like Candy Crush. The players’ objective is to strategically slide game cubes, connecting three ghosts of the same color. If they manage to trigger a chain reaction in the process, good for them!
