Mykeos – taste of Greece

Current market situation
Jansen has been importing and distributing exclusive and original products for decades. These include cheeses, pasta, yogurts, butters, and many other products from countries including Italy, France, Spain, and Greece, as well as the UK, Ireland, Germany, and Bulgaria.
If you have ever bought good Dutch Edam, Gouda or delicious Cheddar by weight, it is very likely that it was delivered to Poland by Jansen.

Change of approach
After years of operating as a supplier to other businesses in the B2B segment, Jansen decided to enter the market with its own strong consumer brand. The choice fell on creating a brand of original Greek antipasti and pastas.
For every creative studio, the dream is to build a brand from scratch. We’re then unconstrained by how the brand has functioned over the years, how it’s embedded itself in customers’ minds, the associations it evokes, or the challenges it’s faced.
We and the client have carte blanche before us, which we can fill out as we see fit.

Original products straight from Greece
All products we brand come from certified places of origin. This means their Greekness isn’t arbitrary. It’s not a false claim or a stylization of a product “a la”—it often dates back hundreds of years.
It’s based on the origins of ingredients, recipes passed down through generations, and production locations. Many of these products have been sold in the same locations for decades, even centuries!

Greek brand
After workshops with the client, it became clear that the name had to be unmistakably Greek. Most Greek yogurts available on the Polish market are produced here, even though they appear authentically Greek. The same applies to salad cheeses like feta, stuffed peppers, and other “Greek” products. Therefore, we couldn’t afford for products produced, for example, near Katowice, to look more Greek than our 100% Greek antipasti.
We chose the name Mykeos, which is a word we created ourselves. It doesn’t mean anything specific, but it has a perfectly Greek sound and is easy to pronounce.

Time for the packaging!
With the name, brand identity, and design level of Greekness established, we were ready to move on to packaging design. We decided on a wrapper, although jar stickers were also considered.
After several tests, we decided that a wrapper with slightly rounded edges would be best. This solution allows for a comfortable grip on the jar while also increasing the surface area available for marketing messages.

Visual information system
When creating the Mykeos brand, we knew it would consist of more than a dozen different products. Such a broad portfolio required the creation of a comprehensive visual system that would allow for the differentiation of individual products.
We decided to use the blue top as the brand’s umbrella, present on all packaging. The bottom will feature a bold color and an appetizing product photo. All pastes are presented in bowls, while the remaining products are displayed loose.
